Baxter Mountain Tavern - Keene

Delicious food in a cozy atmosphere! We have a second home in Upper Jay and have been dining at Baxter Mountain Tavern for years—it's our favorite restaurant. Situated at the top of a pass, the location offers stunning views. It's conveniently located just above the road from the shorter of the two Baxter Mountain Trailheads. The food is consistently very good to excellent. Being away from the hustle and bustle of Lake Placid, it attracts more locals and fewer tourists, creating a warm and welcoming vibe. My favorite dish has always been the pork chops.

Very good! Great view.... Very good! Great view while eating on the big deck (inner restaurants also looked like a beautiful atmosphere). Good service, reasonable prices, and our two dinners were excellent. I would highly recommend the Baxter Tavern while visiting the Keene area.

Great apres hike noon place. We recently stopped for lunch (2 adults/2 children) after hiking Baxter Mountain (October 2010). It was a nice day and we sat outside on the terrace. Food was not spectacular, but good and the service was prompt and friendly. We would definitely go back.

The food here is fantastic in the Adirondacks. After five days, this is the first restaurant I’ve decided to come back to. The soups are amazing, the macaroni and cheese is great, and they cook the burger just the way I like it—with a thick patty. My friend also had a great experience with his fish and chips.

I always enjoy visiting this restaurant! The community is fantastic, and the menu is full of delicious dishes that celebrate diverse flavors, cuisines, and dietary needs. I'm especially impressed by the increased variety of vegetarian and vegan options!
