The Flying Dutchman Restaurant Oyster Bar

Poor service. Waiter did not check on us at all nor came back for drink refills.

We sat outside and being by the water was pleasant. The sound of the little train was annoying, and the restaurant’s music conflicted with the live music coming from the sound stage a few yards away. Our servers were nice but the food was average. I ordered the salmon salad with charred corn and the dressing on the side and I got a green salad with some bacon tossed in, no charred corn. The salmon was tasty as was the dressing but when I pointed the bacon out to the server she told me it was just salmon skin. It was not.

Awesome meal, service, and atmosphere! We will dine here again!

Wait time was minimal with Reservation. Hostess was polite. Ryan, server, was on point. Attentive but not too attentive. Food was good. Portion sizes were appropriate.

Headed to kemah for the evening to enjoy the music at rock the dock. The Flying Dutchmen is a nice spot to be able to hear the band. Food was a similar quality to what we’ve had before. My Greek salad with grilled shrimp was good, husbands burger was over done. Our service was terrible. Our waitress was rude, forgot our appetizer and didn’t come by to check on our drinks until the meal was over. During a previous visit we had the same waitress and she was just as bad the last time. We decided to let the manager know as clearly she wasn’t improving. The manager acknowledged she was a bad waitress but clearly wasn’t going to do anything to address the issue.
