We were seated on the deck which has beautiful views. We were told that they were very busy and there would be a wait for our meal. Drinks were brought fairly quickly. It was obvious that the staff were working hard and apologised several times for the wait. When our food came it was worth the wait, the lobster rolls and tacos were very good and tasty. even though we were now past their closing time there was no feeling of being rushed. Would visit again. Also has a gift shop as part of the same building.
What a find! Just a few minutes drive from Cavendish. The location is lovely. Whether you eat indoors or outside on the deck, the atmosphere is great. Best **** Caesar I ever drank. Exceptional assortment of oysters. Food is delicious and a good value compared to other restaurants in the area. We enjoyed Carr's so much, we visited it twice during our trip. In addition to the restaurant, there's a really nice gift shop and a wildlife center with an impressive collection of preserved birds. A must-visit when you're in PEI.
I was very surprised at the size of the mussels since this is PEI after all. Most were quite small. The wine and garlic broth was pretty boring and I had to order a biscuit to sop some of it up as they don’t offer bread. Seriously, what restaurant doesn’t give you bread. The breaded fish was fine but was ‘one’ very thin slice for the $20 bucks you paid for it. Pretty pricey dinner considering what we had.
There aren't enough stars to describe our lunch at Carr's! We had an amazing experience and can't wait to visit again. Of course we started with oysters...perfectly shucked and super delicious. I had the coconut shrimp taco special; 2 tacos with shrimp, slaw, pickled carrots and onions. They were amazing. We saved room for dessert where we split the warm rum raisin bread pudding (delicious and a must-try and the coconut cream pie (fluffy, coconutty deliciousness! Our waitress was one of the most helpful, friendly people we've met. (Unfortunately, I can't remember her name She was very patient with my dad and helped him navigate the credit card payment machine. And then there was the Caesar cocktail. We learned that this is the national drink of Canada. Carr's makes the best one by far. They incorporate pickle juice and have a great secret rim mix. It was a perfect tangy, tomato-y, pickle-y concoction. Carr's is definitely on our list to return to on our next visit to PEI. Thank you!
