It is a seat yourself type dining and there is usually only one server. Everything is made well and has great flavor. It's a great place to bring a friend to have a pot of tea with. Some times you may have to wait longer than others because they do have bridal showers, baby showers and other events booked. I think the severs are very nice. I love the deserts! Try the quiche or homemade soups they offer daily. They must be doing something right because I've been coming here every week for a year!
The service was poor and the food was very overpriced for what it was. We ordered the Pegg House tea, and you pay $30 for 2 scones with cream (which were excellent but they forgot the jam and we had to ask for that) a couple of tiny sandwiches, a couple of grapes, 2 strawberries and slices of pineapple...and then a couple of mini quiches cakes (the kind you buy in grocery store for very little). The pot of tea that came with it was cold and had to be sent back. If you can overlook the poor service, the scones were good, so perhaps just order those, and prepare to wait! We are British so love tea, and was so hoping this would be better
I love tea rooms but this one was just OK. We got a collection of fingers sandwiches, tiny quiches, and some small pastries for two. It was thirty dollars and came out to like 1.50 a wee little piece of food. And the service was very poor. There seemed to be only one server and we stood for several minutes at the door with no one noticing or seating us. It was weird because there were no signs to seat yourself or anything. Overall, it was overpriced for the quality and service.
Took my English family here to enjoy the English Breakfast tea and brunch. The tea pots are large enough for two. Brunch here is always different which reflects seasonal changes. I have been here in the afternoons for tea and sampler dish for one is fitting to share. The restaurant was home; a historical building. Very fitting'
On the bright side, the food is fantastic. I usually order the turkey croissant, which comes with this incredible strawberry cream cheese. The tea is charming, and I love the assortment of mismatched cups. This place could easily be my go-to for lunch, but I always leave feeling disappointed because of the service.
