She was very rude to us and other customers and also didn't appear to treat the staff well. I also overheard her giving out about other customers in the restaurant with the floor staff. She had arguments with several people in the restaurant. Disappointing to see how the pub has deteriorated over the years. You would be better off continuing to Carlow or Bunclody.
Had a recent large extended family event. Manager was really rude to some family members. We tried to move tables to accommodate people and my kids were told to keep quiet and to sit wherever a seat was free. Really rude and we won't be back. Worth the extra 5 minute drive to the River's Edge in Bunclody.
I have been to Conways quite often over many years. Firstly, we went in to get a table and were told it would be a 20 minute wait, after 20 minutes we went back in and were told it would be another 30 minutes wait. Another 10 minutes went by and my younger sister (aged 14) went in to check if there was a table as a number of people had left, she was completely ignored. A family came in and stood behind her, they were approached straight away by the manger and my sister was still left there standing when she had dealt with this family. After an additional 10 minutes I went back in to see if there was a table as we were still sitting outside, we did get a table then. We would have still been waiting for a table had I not went back inside to find out, the staff were standing all around the bar but not one came outside to tell us there was a table ready. We were then looked after straight away and got our food with no delay however, our roast dinner came on a narrow dessert plate. The beef on my plate was a pile of shavings, there was not a slice in sight. I was charged €16 which is the cost of this dinner as always however this portion was half the size than it would have been an hour before. This dinner was not worth this price and I was absolutely disgusted with what I got compared to normal. The food and the service were both terribly disappointing, something I did not think I would ever say about such a fantastic restaurant. I will from now on travel into Bunclody or Carlow instead.
My family ate here last weekend and we were all very impressed with the quality of the food and the warm, efficient service we received from our server. The dessert menu looked delicious, although after the generous size portions we could only manage one chocolate brownie between us. They have a good selection of beers and small bottles of wine and they also do small bottles of prosecco which was a nice surprise. The toilets are clean and the outside terrace faces a paddock with a few horses which kept restless children distracted. Overall it was a lovely meal and we look forward to returning again. Keep up the great work Conways , good staff are hard to find and yours are a credit to you!
Came across this lovely village country pub on route to Wexford. We had a no fuss home cooked meal which was delicious. Great Guinness too! Really lovely and polite staff. The premises is beautifully maintained and well decorated. We would definitely recommend to our friends and will be back. Thank you.
