Irene's Fish N Chips - Kimberley

Saw this place while driving by and thought we should stop in. Staff was very friendly and had a great conversation with the owner. The fish and chips were excellent - nice to get a true piece of fish instead of just filler. The three of us had different entrees - the halibut was amazing - a little expensive, but we know halibut is not a cheap fish to purchase. Still worth it!! The cod and pollock were also very good. Be sure to have a little vinegar with the fries. It was a great treat to stop at this little venue. Much nicer that the typical "fast food" stops. Be sure to try the lemonade as well. We will be back!!

Food was good and priced well. Would have loved to have had the option to order mushy peas. Enjoyed eating on their patio.

Absolutely horrible. Perhaps a visit to C-Lovers or Moby Dicks in the lower mainland might offer some inspiration as to what a proper fish and chip dinner should look and taste like.

I recently took my son's family to this restaurant for some fish & chips takeout. Both the halibut and cod were quite tasty without the heavy breading. I agree with previous reviewers that the piece of fish is a bit on the small side but the healthy portion of good fries helps to balance it. They were quite busy (Thursday night) and the wait was lengthy (approaching 45 minutes) which was unfortunate. The staff (2) were doing their best to keep up but they need more help during the busy dinner hour (summertime) here. The kids were pretty well spent by the time our order was ready. I would recommend the fish and chips but you'd might want to phone ahead with your take out order.

The service was horrible. Took a friend from England and he didn't seem impressed. Our waitress was honestly beyond rude to us, and the fish was overcooked to a point of being dry. Our water was warm. Wouldn't visit again...
