I was traveling on Route 1 and chose to stay here for one night. I saw this delicious restaurant on Google Maps and decided to give it a try. I bought a beef TACO. There was a lot of beef, but it was a little salty. The tortillas were very delicious! I love tacos
I went here ordering 10 burritos almost daily. Then i met the cooks, and they had us calling in orders for our 20 guys and different foods. It was wonderful. We love them. I recommend them for sure. Tords the end of the week we bbq at the hotel and needed more variaty. We will be back next yr for sure
The truth is I ordered a super burito and I thought I ordered a taco
While King City isn’t often the destination for travelers on the 101, it’s a SUPER common and convenient pit stop for travel between the Bay Area and the Central Coast. There are only a handful of exits in town (if you don’t like stoplights, it’s almost perfect! and if you’re jonesing for a little bit of comida Mexicana during your pit stop, well, friends, you’re in luck. If you want it fast, fresh, freaking delicious and fairly priced, Tacos la Potranca de Jalisco is your one stop shop to fill your belly and get back on the road to wherever you’re going. I stumbled upon the restaurant years ago upon the recommendation of a coworker. When I arrived at lunch time I saw a Los Angeles county jail bus, CalFire fire engine and Park Service ranger vehicle parked out front and was super encouraged — especially by the LA deputies. They could eat anywhere on their long drive back to LA, and they’re chose here. The menu is simple (tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortas and sopes with the usual assortment of meats, as well as a good selection of drinks — including awesome champurrado during the winter! I’ve had pretty much everything on the menu over the years, and my go-to choices are veggie burritos, lengua quesadillas and pollo tacos. I haven’t tried the tripas, but that’s probably just my inner (and outer! gringo shining through. I was resistant to lengua at first, too, and now’s it at the top of my list, and Potranca’s is top notch! The salsa verde is absolutely fantastic, and if they sold it by the gallon I’d buy it and bring it home. My only ‘gripe’ is that they don’t have chips or guac… but it’s a small place and a fryer takes up a lotta room and time to keep clean and stuff. The staff is great, from Francisco down, and they’re running a tight and consistent ship. There are a couple tables outside if you want to eat there, and whether you stick around or bail, I bet you’re gonna be satisfied. There’s plenty of parking, too! Vegetarian options: Great veggie burritos and quesadillas with amazing salsa options!
