I have noticed that some reviews for this pub might be mixed up with another place. In the 40+ times that my friends and I have dined at the Globe (usually once a week, sometimes twice), we have never been given a menu. Despite this, the Globe consistently serves fresh and satisfying food. Their menu may be limited, but the food is tasty and pairs well with their selection of ale.
We went into this restaurant with the intention of having a drink, but ended up being tempted by the menu as we were both very hungry. However, the place appeared to be a bit run-down (we would actually describe it as 'dirty') so my partner decided to check the Scores on the Doors. The Globe Inn in Upwell (the pub where the owner seems to think customers confuse it with a different establishment every time they receive a negative review on Trip Advisor) has a rating of 1 out of 5 from Environmental Health, with little confidence in the management. That says it all. We left without eating, which is definitely better than risking getting a foodborne illness. Proceed at your own risk.
The food was okay actually couldn't really complain too much and in a lovely setting. It was however the staff that really let the place down I was greeted by what I can only describe as a grumpy old man, he was belligerent, miserable and I cannot understand why he has decided to chose a career dealing with the public.
Went for a drink with friends, it was quite late. The bar wasn't busy, but the barmaid, was chatting to friends. When we finally got served we asked for cocktails. They tasted like dishwater, expensive dishwater, not impressed.
