However, ice clogging the bay must have been making food hard to find at Kings Point. $10 is just too much for a dozen or so french fries with shredded mozzarella and gravy on a 12 cm diameter saucer served by a surly waitress. Likewise for my friend 's few tablespoons of seafood chowder. The sliver of frozen creamsicle cheesecake was pretty good.
Great location right on the water. I got the seafood chowder. By New England standards it was a 3. I also got the salt and pepper ribs. A solid 2. Velvet got the fried chicken breast with fries. The fries were the star of the meal. Service was good.
Great homestyle food, lots of options. Perfect view of the ocean. If your lucky you see some whales swimming by
Regular NL fare. Well prepared. We ate the Burt's wharf which is a bit of everything. Can't say I loved the cod tongues but felt that I had to try it once. A little chewier than regular cod with a soft center. Salmon was over cooked and therefore dry. Fish cakes were tasty as was the cod. Beautiful bay view. Just be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes for food.
If you're only in Newfoundland a short while and want to experience as much traditional fare as possible, head for this small oceanside restaurant and have Bert's Wharf Special. Salmon, cod, fish cakes and cod tongues, perfectly prepared all on one plate. Go with an appetite as portions are generous. Other menu items include breakfast all day, steak, baked beans, lobster, hot turkeys, all with homemade bread. My only disappointment was that jig's dinner is only offered on Sunday. I guess I'll have to go back. Service is typical over-the-top friendly and the dessert menu is extensive.
