The waitress was lovely and provided plenty of information about the menu. Now, onto the food: I ordered the tri-tip sandwich, and it was quite good. The meat was well-smoked and not too heavy, and the BBQ sauce paired nicely with it. I also tried the onion rings, which were quite tasty and had a nice batter that I appreciated. However, I wasn’t fond of the sides; the mac and cheese and BBQ beans weren’t very good and tasted somewhat microwaved. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys BBQ.
Upon arriving, we walked in and found it was a self-seat establishment. We chose a booth in the back and were promptly greeted by our server, who provided us with menus and took our drink orders. The menu featured a solid selection of BBQ dishes and drinks. My wife went with the brisket, while I opted for the pulled pork sandwich with the potato salad I had read about. Everything arrived in a timely manner and did not disappoint. The meat was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the potato salad was excellent—just fantastic. My wife wished she had ordered the brisket sandwich instead of the plate since it came with a generous portion of meat, but I wasn’t too upset, as I always enjoy her leftovers. We took the leftover brisket home, and the next day, I enjoyed it in a tortilla with pepper jack cheese. It was delicious! Overall, we had a great experience. As for the service, our server wasn't particularly friendly, but she wasn’t rude either. I noticed she had her kids helping out by cleaning tables, which I thought was commendable; it’s great for kids to learn the value of work. I’m not going to stop dining somewhere just because the staff doesn’t shower me with enthusiastic greetings. So, we’re definitely planning to return! I’d rate it four stars! **Updated Review** My wife and I were craving BBQ again and returned to our favorite restaurant, only to find that they no longer serve BBQ, except for a tri-tip sandwich. Unfortunately, the pulled pork sandwich and brisket are no longer on the menu. This was quite disappointing and will likely keep us from returning in the future. It’s a shame because this place used to be the best. I understand that BBQ can be expensive to offer, and perhaps they weren’t making enough profit from it. Nonetheless, the place is still lovely, and the service remains good, but now I need to find another BBQ spot.
When you walk in, you’re greeted by two white signs directing you to different areas of the restaurant and bar, which feels a bit silly. I opted for the smokehouse section since I was craving some barbecue. The blonde waitress wasn’t particularly welcoming or chatty—more of a “hurry up and order” vibe. The menu had a nice selection, and I found the appetizers appealing, but I decided to go with the brisket sandwich while my companion chose the tri-tip. The wait for our food was quite long, and the waitress didn’t seem attentive to us, even though the place wasn’t crowded—just the bar area was busy. Prices are on the higher side, ranging from $10 to $30, which feels a bit excessive. After a 35-minute wait, our food finally arrived, and surprisingly, it was still warm. The sandwiches were tasty, though a bit on the dry side. The bread, however, was disappointing—dry, chewy, and lacking in flavor, which was quite unpleasant. It’s frustrating when a restaurant gives you a sandwich with more bread than filling; it really shouldn’t be that way. On the positive side, the sides were quite good—especially the rice pilaf and potato salad, which I really enjoyed. Overall, I’ve had both worse and better meals, so I’m open to returning, especially if I come at a different time or with a different waitress. I’d rate this place a 3.0.
I was skeptical. A BBQ joint with Swedish looking writing outside? But...my in-laws insisted, so how could I say no? I 'm glad they insisted! I went with my tried-and-true favorite: pulled park sandwich. My brother-in-law went with the brisket, was was tender and flavorful. But when I bit into my pulled pork (it 's big, so I was glad I was sharing it with someone else), I knew we made the right choice! With just a little added house BBQ sauce, is was moist, tender, and delicious on the toasted french roll. It 's wasn 't fatty or gristly, best pulled pork I 've had in a long time! The potato salad was good, but a bit heavy on the dill weed (which typically I like). The beans were sweet, they way I like 'em! Next time we 're in town, we will be back!
The food is great! Well, the tri-tip and pulled pork combo plate that we had was great. It's not on the menu but you can ask for it anyway. There was too much of it for two of us to eat. The potato salad was top notch and so were the fried green beans. Small town cozy, beer on top and real good iced tea. We will be back and we'll bring more people with us too.
