This week was South African week, with a set menu. My husband is a meat eater and I’m a seafood eater. The restaurant catered to both our preferences beautifully. The meal was delicious from start to finish everything was great but in particular, the salmon pastrami was sublime, the Malay fish bobotie was fantastic and the malva cake for dessert was perfectly accompanied by wonderful pistachio ice cream. I thoroughly recommend The Odd Plate. It is a gem.
Absolutely delicious food, we shared the Chef's Selection Feed Me Menu, and finished every single bit on each of the eight plates... amazing food, great service, in a gorgeous Art Deco style restaurant. We shared some fun cocktails, and wines too. Do yourself a favour... you won't regret it! Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner
Great food and services, very patient staff and well prepared menu which in line with a refreshed character villa interior: classic mixed modern taste, love the beef cooked at right tenderness and flavour, kids and wife love it
We had a booking at the Odd Plate on Sunday 9th April. We unfortunately had to cancel as my partner contracted Covid on the Friday. We emailed Friday evening around 10pm once Covid was confirmed to which we were emailed back from Amanda to confirm the name the booking would be under. The following day, I received a phone call that they were going to charge me $30 for a cancellation fee as it was within their 48hour cancellation policy.(We had cancelled within around 44 hours. I was shocked to think that they would be charging me giving the circumstances of covid and our entire holiday had to be postponed not just our dinner booking. Our accommodation and other bookings we had made, postponed everything for us at no cost and were very understanding. I mentioned this to Amanda and she said it was part of their policy. I said given it was Easter, they would definitely be able to fill the dinner booking with no issues. Her other option was to charge me the full $160 and we could use it as a credit next time we visited. We had played phone chasey a couple of times and once we did get a hold of each other I mentioned we would like to pay the full amount, then use it as a credit when we next visited. She said well I’ve already charged you the $30 as I’ve cancelled the booking and given you might not be back until next year we won’t be able yo hold the credit for that long. I thought it was only a couple of months. I asked for the owner to call me on Saturday which she couldn’t as they were busy no problems but if they could please call me the next day. I’ve had no contact from anyone since. We wanted to visit KI as we never had before and help boost tourism since covid and this is what they are doing? Being 4 hours too late of the cancellation policy and still being charged a fee is ridiculous with no sympathy and that it was almost just too bad and we had to pay for the ‘food’ they had already ordered in. What ever happened to customer service comes first?
