The restaurant is quiet and beautifully decorated. you are eating well! her sticky rice dessert is my favorite and the deep roasted Winton assizer is also delicious.
Food was plentiful and delicious! Only reason why it's not 5 star is because there was only one waitress on a Friday night, which meant about an hours wait after you order the food. We got our appetizer, main course and drinks all at the same time! That defeats the purpose of ordering an appetizer.Anyways, food was delicious. :)
The restaurant is located downtown and has an interesting menu. My husband had the mango shrimp and I had the ginger chicken, both of which were very tasty. For dessert we shared the fried banana with ice cream. I'm lactose intolerant and my husband loves ice cream, so we split the dish accordingly. We were both happy campers.
We were one of the first reviewers of the Aspara Angkor when it first opened up and gave it 2 thumbs up and 5 stars. This time I will give them the thumbs up for just my meal which was the Curry pad Thai which I really loved. The problem was with my wife's meal. She ordered the Basil Spicy Noodle but requested tofu instead of chicken and they were very accommodating. When they brought her meal out she started to take a bite but noticed it looked like there was egg in it, which she cannot eat. It does not say anything on the menu about egg being in that particular dish. When the waitress confirmed there was egg in there she apologized and offered to bring another one which was nice enough of her to do. I did not say anything when I saw her replacement brought out but my wife noticed it right away. She had substantially less tofu this time and she was very disappointed (like half as much). At this point it was not worth it to risk upsetting the cook, probably yet again, so it was not mentioned. So the 3 strikes against them were:1) eggs in a dish that could have been fatal for anyone with severe allergies.2) lack of quality control or caring for the replacement dish.3) I ordered the lunch special which came with a spring roll and the hot and sour soup which were both delicious. I just don't understand why the appetizers were brought out at the same time as her first dish but my main course did not arrive until she was about 8 bites into her second dish. Otherwise I very much enjoyed mine.It might have been a one off occasion but we will try it again the next time we are in Kingston and will have to confirm the ingredients only because they do not realize how serious that common allergies can be.
