We enjoyed dishes such as open smoked salmon sandwiches on Scandinavian flatbread with capers, and pork chop sandwiches in the quaint downtown area of Kingston, Ontario. The menu showcases the heritage of the original Danish owner. The restaurant recently celebrated its 40th anniversary in downtown Kingston.
We popped in for a quick breakfast, but were disappointed to find that there was no menu available and our order was "forgotten". After waiting 20 minutes while the servers chatted about their personal lives, they eventually realized our order had not been sent to the kitchen.
I thought there was a coffee here and was satisfied with the atmosphere. For years, I have gone back and was pleased to see that it is still there and will be a place since the summer of 1983. (Note was...incapable of selecting the appropriate date so that I adjusted the month of 2019 to the same month of my visit of 1983)
I haven't visited this restaurant in years, and I had never been for breakfast before. However, this morning a friend and I enjoyed a nice brunch here. You take a number from the machine, place your order with the waiting staff or cook, pay for your meal, and then sit down. The food was excellent, the coffee was very good, and the waiting staff were pleasant and polite. The prices were very reasonable. The seating area was spacious, bright, and clean. The only downside was the restroom. It was located down a number of narrow stairs, and the men's restroom needed attention and was overdue for renovations.
This place reminds me of those cool, old school NYC delis. Our sandwiches were perfectly prepared (very nicely sliced, which matters to me for some reason. Liked the music. We will be back.
