I tried the bun thit nuong #14 and it was quite authentic! Can't wait to try other items on the menu next time :) Restaurant's very clean.
Do not come here for Pho It's basically meat, bean sprouts and noodles in a bowl of hot water, not slow cooked beef broth Pho style.
We were passing by Kingston and was craving for some Asian food. After looking up the reviews decided to give this place a try (Civic holiday; two other better rated restaurants were not open). The lady server was pleasant & friendly. We had 4 dishes. Vietnamese beef noodle soup, the soup was not soup at all. Looked like clear water with bit of oil floating on top. Basil that garnished the noodles were already chopped up, welted and brown. Forget about the fresh cilantro or green onions that normally accompany the pho dish. No bean sprouts, lime was given on a side plate; instead was added in the lukewarm bowl already. It was the most sad, terrible looking beef noodle soup ever presented. Chinese greens with three mushrooms & tofu on rice, another horrible disappointment. There was nothing green in the stir fry (just some white napa cabbage, carrots, white onions), nor was there 3 types of mushrooms or 3 whole mushrooms. Instead, the cook had exactly 3 little pieces of Chinese cloud ear fungus thrown into this brown color plate.Grill chicken on rice with cucumbers and carrot. Again, terrible looking and you get just that. A slab of brown but not grilled for sure chicken with some chopped cucumbers and julienne carrots (slightly pickled) on top of rice.Last, the house special.....red chicken curry with vegetable & cashew on rice looked just "ok". No red curry flavor was thereat all other than coconut milk taste. However, in this dish there actually was plenty of mixed vegetables, chicken and cashews as advertised.Overall, this place is horrible. The cook can't cook plus knows nothing of the food he cooks. How dare the owner even use Thai or Vietnamese to attract people when the food is so bad. Unless you don't mind feeling cheated, rip-off or just desperate for rice (like I did) DO NOT waste your money eating there. There is no value associated with bad food no matter how much they cost.
We met friends at this restaurant for dinner and all of us found the food tasty and fresh, everything clean and the wait staff (owners?) pleasant, accommodating and fast. We will definitely go back.
