The place was very busy and probably a reservation is called for. I rate it as very good because of its kind, it is.They serve not simply traditional fish and chips but a range of fish with the option of alternatives to frying. So for example I had some devilled whitebait and followed it with grilled swordfish; the kids and their grandmother stuck with the traditional. The fish is fresh and for me the main reason for eating here; accompaniments are OK with generous portions of chips and mushy peas available. There is a short, basic but sound wine list. Service is brisk; it's simply a question of waiting for the fryer or grill to deliver. The dining area is quite small so there is a bustling, cheerful atmosphere. I like it for what it is; an up-market fish and chip shop with prices to match. It isn't a restaurant and its culinary ambitions are limited. Bear that in mind and it's not a bad place to go for a casual night out. If you can't get a table have a take-out.
Absolutely brilliant. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Fish is all fresh and a huge selection. Well worth it.
