The chicken tikka tasted like burned plastic with large chunks of poorly cooked chicken, and the sauce resembled something more suited for an Italian pasta dish. The biryani was dry and I would rate it a 2 out of 10. I am sorry to say that for the price of £35.00, which is equivalent to a week's worth of groceries, I had to throw the food away. As someone working in the food industry, I can confidently say that this food is not of good quality.
We visited this Indian restaurant for the first time and were extremely impressed by the food and overall experience. Highly recommended.
I placed an online order for 1 Chicken Jalfrezi, 2 Lamb Biryani, 1 Mushroom rice, 1 Naan, and 1 Chapati for delivery. The Chicken Jalfrezi had large slices of tandoori chicken with sauce on top, but I felt it did not meet my expectations of a traditional Jalfrezi. When I called to express my concerns, the person on the phone insisted that this was how they made it. Additionally, the Lamb Biryani was not up to par and left much to be desired.
We've walked past Spice Lodge loads of times as we live on Park Road and never thought it was worth trying. During lockdown we had had a not very nice takeaway meal from our usual Indian restaurant and so decided to try Spice Lodge instead . We were very very pleased with the quality, quantity and value we had Korai Lamb, Chicken Byriani, Sag Aloo, Rice, Pappadums etc only cost £20 and enough for four. The food wasn't too greasy or too salty but it was quite spicy which we like. We've been back for another takeaway since and again a positive experience so think we will be regulars here
But tasted of nothing at all. Very disappointing. The quest for a good Indian takeaway in Kingston that delivers (and isn't actually an expensive restaurant) goes on...
