Maro's Pizza - Kingston

Rang my local pizza shop for ready made dinner. Wasn't disappointed again. The gourmet pizzas have awesome toppings I always have trouble deciding which one to have. The Tandoor and the Neptune are my favourites.

We gave Mao's another go after hearing that it had changed hands, but the pizza is still disappointing. We tried lasagna, 2 traditional pizzas and 1 gourmet pizza. While we were quite excited by the menu, we found both types of pizza really lacking in flavour. Thick doughy base with bland flavours on top. Looked good, tasted bland.The service was quite slow also. We ordered online and were informed the order would be ready about 30 minutes from order time and yet it was more like 45 before the pizza was in our hands. Also I noted that our pizzas were cooked and sitting on top of the oven from the time I arrived and yet it sat there for 10 minutes before the pasta was ready. It wasn't too cold, but not piping hot either!The guy (?owner?) was really barking orders at his many junior staff too. He was nice enough to customers, but I say this here because I hope he reads it and is a little nicer (not so condescending) to his staff. It doe not reflect nicely on the business.

Delicious pizza ...my only complaint would be that the bases are quite thick and I generally prefer a thin base.

I usually make my own pizza at home and I was reminded why the last time we got Dominos Pizza as it was awful and bland. Tonight we were getting home too late for me to make dinner and I notice everytime I drive passed Maro's it's busy so we wanted to give it a go. We were glad we did! We phone ordered ahead as we were driving home so we arrived at Maro's before our pizzas were ready, but we didn't mind taking a seat on the comfy lounge and watching what looked like a large family working away together perfectly making a lot of pizzas! Even Grandma was in the back making pastas. After watching the pizza making process and the care that was taken making them we thought these should be pretty good pizzas. We paid, got our pizzas and headed home. I picked the Hawaiian and Hubby picked the Carnivore, both were delicious with a perfect crust thickness and plenty of toppings. Hubby's only complaint would be he likes his base crispier but it was good for me.We will definitely be going back to Maro's for our pizzas from now on.

Maro's is everything that you want in a Pizza Restaurant. Friendly family service and fabulous food. They also get involved and help the local community groups. Great people, great food and great service.
