I very much enjoyed everything I purchased. Beef, Spinach, Mushroom samsas and beet salad. The spinach one had a subdued bitterness perhaps in the spices that I found very interesting and tasty but not so strong that it detracted. The mushroom and potato one I admit to eating so quickly I can only say it was deliciously savory and that I would eat it again. I usually pass on beef but I decided to try it as well and loved it. The caraway seeds, onions and other seasonings were a unique combination to me that reminded me of decades ago and a dish my mother made. They don't use ground beef which helps give this one nice texture. I would easily order any of these samsas again. That leaves the beet salad. I eat beets regularly so I had an idea of what to expect. It taste nothing like what I expected or have had before in a beet salad. Despite being sweetened I did not find it to be overly sweetened which I appreciated nor was it saturated with vinegar as some beet salads can be. It was seasoned enough that I imagine some normal beet haters would not find it objectionable...maybe...beets aren't for everyone. The van appeared to be outfitted with hotboxes to keep the already baked samsas nicely warmed and ready to go. A great stop if you are on the run. Again, I'd order and eat any of these items again.I have no pictures because the containers were happily emptied before I thought of taking one.
First time having Uzbeki food and WOW. I’m so impressed and I’m just craving more! Had the beef samsa and curry chicken samsa and they were so delicious. My mouth waters thinking about the curry chicken one. After devouring, I went back to try and buy the plov (spelling? , but they were sold out. So my best rec is buy everything you can in the first round so you don’t miss out!
I tried one of their pies earlier today at the Sodo flea market. It was okay. I asked for the curry chicken pie and either they skimped on the curry or they gave me the wrong pie (not sure what else it could've been because it was chicken but they have no other chicken pies on their menu) because there was no curry flavor. Pretty disappointing in that regard. The pie was a little bigger than my palm and very stuffed with filling. The bottom of the pastry was very soggy, but on the upside that meant the filling was hot and juicy. It was $6/pie, up from $5
Picked up from their food truck when it was outside our apartment! I got the spinach, cheesy beef, and the curry. My favorite was definitely the curry, so flavorful! Only reason for 4 stars is because I feel like $5/ea would suffice.
