The Huntsman Inn - Kirklees

My husband and I visited this restaurant last night and parked our camper van overnight. The pub is set in beautiful surroundings and we enjoyed a delicious meal with outstanding service. The breakfast, however, was overpriced at £15.95 per person. I ordered poached eggs on toast and a few slices of toast and was still charged the full amount. I would recommend this place for a meal, but suggest finding breakfast elsewhere.

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. The portions were small, the meat was fatty and lukewarm, the chips were overcooked and dry, and the vegetable side dishes were poorly cooked. It seems that there has been a noticeable decrease in quality and ingredients since my last visit. Unfortunately, I won't be in a hurry to return.

This restaurant is a fantastic traditional country pub with a cozy atmosphere. They have a wide selection of drinks and an amazing menu. The steak pie and burger were both delicious and came in very generous portions. I would definitely return to this place!

The starters were nice, but one main meal was actually cold to the touch. Then to top it off the Caesar salad came without the advertised anchovies so both meals had to go back to the kitchen to be sorted which meant I had nearly finished my meal by the time the supposedly hot one returned. I visited with a chef and someone who has cooked in her own pub in the Cotswolds for 10 years so not a good time to get things wrong.

Went for a midweek meal with my significant better. Passed this many times and always promised we'd book and so glad we did. This was booked to celebrate exactly 6 months since our first date. I asked for a quiet table and this was duly provided. Starters of woodland mushrooms in a sauce was very appetising. Downside was that it was not particularly piping hot. Main course of cauliflower and Goan curry was very tasty. A suggestion might be to serve raita with the onion bhaji and maybe a nan bread. This merely an observation and in no way a criticism. There was no room for a sweet unfortunately (would have gone for the cheeseboard! but the meal was finished off with a coffee and then a refill. The staff were very attentive and the place has a wonderful ambiance. We will definitely be returning. Thanks..
