Whale Ale Pub - Kitchener

My family has been going to the Whale and Ale for around 20 years. We’ve seen through multiple owners and different levels of service but would really like to shout out this pub and the transition that has happened in the last year. Seemingly going back to the original owner has made this pub back into a local staple. The food is always delicious and the service is always friendly, funny and lovely!Today we watched Lisa manage a pub with upwards of 35 people and she made it look effortless! She greeted everyone as if they were an old friend, took the time to make sure everyone felt welcome, and kept a cool demeanour in what was a very obviously busy environment! We’ve been served by Lisa in the past, and she’s always been amazing, but watching her work today was next level! The staff here are amazing always exceptional and we love having this as a go to pub in the community!

The restaurant was good, but it would be even better if they offered craft beer options from the nearby Counterpoint Brewery. I was pleasantly surprised to find liver and onions on the menu, and it was a delightful dish.

The food is great with many options, but it would be helpful to have a menu that is easier to navigate for those with ADHD.

We decided to drop in after work, I was starving!The waitress J. came along and took a drink order and asked if we were waiting on someone else and we absently-minded nodded yes... little did we know!! Some time later she took a food order, I asked for the soup and it came along shortly (delivered by someone else) as did our third person. When everyone else around us at the other tables had received their food I asked the waitress where is our food? She looked at me and said in a snarky voice you were waiting for someone else. Is that OKAY??? What did she want an argument right there? I should have called over the manager. Instead our food arrived one hour after we sat down. The service was really really bad and she charged me for an extra soup instead of a side and my fries were cold. When she brought the bill she handed it to my male friend who then handed it to me. At the sight of me handling the bill she dropped the machine on the table and left with a ton of attitude. Unfortunately I could not say it loud enough I didn 't leave you a tip, is that OKAY???? Won 't go back even if the burger was good.

The food at this restaurant is absolutely delicious and the staff is incredibly friendly. They warmly welcomed our large group.
