As The Bay Horse was always first and foremost a traditional 'pub ', they have had to adapt over the years to focus on the food offering and I think they have managed it really well – the small menu still manages to cater for most tastes and they were easily able to cater for 'off menu ' requests (none of the 'sorry, that 's how the meal comes ' nonsense you get in chain restaurants). The food came out promptly, was nice and hot, and it certainly all appeared to be freshly-cooked. Yes, we had a couple of hiccups (one meal was accidentally missed off for example), but it was dealt with sensibly. Prices were a little on the high side for pub food, but to be fair, we have seen that quite a lot recently so I assume it 's just inflation (for example, simple things like bangers and mash, that I 'd normally expect to be around £12, were £16). Overall we were very happy with our food and managed to eat almost every last bit, although that left some of us feeling rather full as the portions are quite generous.
We have been here for lunch before and the had our pre wedding BBQ here in September. Both times we have been the food and service has been amazing. The pub is really cosy but also modern, with a lovely beer garden. Thank you for making the start of our wedding weekend so great!
Amazing. Been a few times now and excellent food every time. I do find I have to leave some (which I don't like doing) because of the big portions. Not sure if most people eat everything on their plate. But the flavour and quality is exceptional.
We have just had the most wonderful overnight stay at the Bay Horse Inn. It was the perfect stopover on our journey from Dundee to Folkestone for Le Shuttle. The staff are just lovely; friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our room had everything you need for a great stay: double sockets either side of the bed, a dressing table with mirror and double socket, air conditioning/heating, surfaces for toiletries in the bathroom, a comfy bed, a good shower and lots of space. It was lovely and quiet too. A real bonus is the restaurant/bar. We ate in the bar as we had our dog with us. The food is absolutely excellent. Breakfast is served in the sister establishment, Goldsborough Hall, a two minute stroll away. It too was superb. We will definitely stop here again.
What a great little place. Went for a sunday dinner and what a nice warm friendly atmosphere. The food was cooked to a very high standard and the meat was very good quality. I think this has just become one of my favourite places for a sunday dinner. Will definitely be returning. Really friendly young waitress (matilda) who was very pleasant and gave us some good information on the village
