We arrived just after 3pm, so we definitely didn 't have to mess with the usual CB crowds. My uncle has a serious illness and it on a walker, however, we often us a wheelchair also, as he is extremely slow. Well, first thing we encountered was very little space for a wheelchair (somewhat typical of most Cracker Barrels). I thought we were going to knock down a few displays on the way to the restroom. He needed to change his depends, so this was an adventure. The restroom definitely isn 't handicapped friendly, and there is no handicapped stall. It was an extremely unpleasant experience, and thank goodness, not a soul came in while we were doing it. We made it to the host stand, and the cashier said, they will be with you in a few minutes. I think we stood there for 5 minutes. I mentioned the bathroom and the cashier said, that 's corporate for you. This is the first Cracker Barrel, and they won 't update it. That explained a lot, as it felt very dingy and small, and somewhat like it was in 'the hood, ' not to be disrespectful. The host finally came and apologized, as they had just cut a few servers, and she didn 't have many on (which I do understand, as I 've been in the biz). Our server Sarah was kind and efficient, so at least that went well. I ordered water, and their water is absolutely nasty for my taste. My uncle even thought so. I had to order a soda, as their city water just didn 't taste right at all. Overall, this just wasn 't a pleasant experience, especially in a wheelchair, and it won 't be on our list the next time we are in the area.
I am really sorry about having to do this review. Cracker Barrel was a favorite, and we loved the food. Last Friday, (8/12/22), my mother and I came in and got the fish fry. This was *always* fantastic before, we have had it so many times. Not this time. The whole visit was just kind of odd in general. We'd asked for lemons for our tea, only to be told there weren't any ready, but should be in just a minute. 15 minutes later, asked again, still no. We did get some finally about five minutes after that. If the restaurant was busy, that would have been understandable....but it wasn't. Most tables were empty. Normally I wouldn't have mentioned that, or a review about it, but it was just...odd. Anyway, we got our food, and it wasn't really great like it normally is. It was hard (not crunchy like it normally is). Even the fish itself under the breading wasn't white and tender. It had kind of a light grayish cast to it, and it had a strong taste to it on first bite. Second bite didn't have it, though, and we just thought after the meal they were just having a bad day. It happens, and I still wouldn't have posted this review if that was it. An hour later, though, is what prompted the review. We started having stomach pain, which turned into horrible nausea and diarrhea. Everyone that had the fish fry got sick. Food poisoning. We won't be back any time soon, and will never have the fish fry again.
Meh, Food arrived cold, eggs were overcooked, one of our meals had ants crawling on the food. Pointed it out to server who told us to tell the cashier, cashier offered to comp a cup of coffee for the bugs. Do not reccomend.
I like this place but the last two times I had a breakfast here I had intestinal pain later.
Good food friendly service clean establishment...fast on time hot delish. I want a breakfast redo.
