This is a slightly late review but I stayed at this hostel just as covid hit and the owners were very accommodating and informative about what's happening with transport around the island during covid. They helped us to get one of the last boats back to the mainland before everything went on full lockdown. The hostel is down the road from the beach with a really reasonable price for a nights stay. Highly recommend.

A great and unforgettable stay at Bubu Lanta. Value-wise I believe it’s the best hostel I’ve been in so far! The dorms are simple but comfortable and there is a plug in every bed! Everyone respects one another’s quietness in the morning and at night so that’s definitely a plus. The bathroom/toilet facilities are definitely the major selling point as well, freshly repainted and all in great shape, not to mention very clean. And also HOT WATER !!! Finally, I find that this hostel attracted a certain style of travelers that is hard to find elsewhere. The place feels like a second family where everyone from such different backgrounds is welcome. If I ever return to Lanta, I know it’ll be at Bubu.

The guy who managed the place at first was very kind helpful nice however I had a few spiders on my bed and couldn’t sleep in my bed so I had to stay awake all night until the morning to let him know (I have a phobia) I also know in Thailand there are spiders and have slept with them just not on/in my bed. I made some noise in the morning when my friends came to help which I admit was wrong but I was also very tired frustrated and had a go when someone told us to be quiet. now this was at 830 am so it wasn’t at 6-7. When we came back from breakfast he had a go at us that we made noise in a very rude way. Now however there are chickens outside that wouldn’t shut up so let’s not act like it’s the quietest hostel and c’mon hostel aren’t always quiet so his attitude was not ok whatsoever! We were waiting in the shade for our van and he kept trying to kick us out and would walk away when I spoke to him. So I recommend if you like chicken and can sleep through it or spiders this is the place for you otherwise it’s not!
