By The Sea - Ko Mak

This place is amazing, everything as advertised, clean, like new rooms, great plool and resturant with exceptional food, sadly we were booked for 3 nights but had to leave unexpectedly after 1 night, normal policy is no refund however the owner allowed us to only pay for the 1 night, how good is that. I would definately recommend and return again. Noteworthy details: Position on the beach, quiet area, not really a party island but their bar is very good and very friendly, service is excellent. Dont expect pristine beach, its Thailand and sometimes plastics are a problem but it is a beautiful beach and not too polluted most of the time.

Super nice and lovely inn with a great restaurant and outdoor area. At this place you just notice that the people are with heart in the matter and make the stay a vacation. The guy at the reception was incredibly rude to us from the start. He gave us an attitude the moment we walked in and checked in for no reason. It really ruins the vibe if after a travel day you are being welcomed with a bad attitude. When asking if they would serve the sandwiches to the pool he responded „you can get it yourself“ all in all really awful tone and totally uncalled for. I totally understand if there is self service however I was asking a question and this can be communicated without an attitude to guests. The girl at the reception however was very lovely and informed. The rooms are nice and clean but the beach area was not taken care of/ messy, very unlike the pictures online. The food is a hard pass sandwiches are plain, not tasty at all and lack any filling especially for the price. For food and drinks go somewhere else better quality taste and price. All in all for the price I think it was overpriced and rather disappointing for what you get.

Beautiful room, nice pool(maybe less chlorine? it’s very European, I’d say after a traveling around Thailand it would be nice to land here and get a taste of home. The staff were really helpful. The beach isn’t great but that’s not the hotels fault. It backs onto a street where you can rent motor bikes, a few shops, food drink. Koh mak is an island where you can travel easily and this hotel is a great spot to base.
