My partner and I walked for half an hour to get to this place from our hotel, and it was well worth it. It must be off-peak, because there weren't many people there at all. We were greeted by a friendly staff member, who was able to accommodate for my shellfish allergy despite having very limited English. He spoiled us with extra food (assuming because it was a slow night) and made us feel very special. The sushi was fresh and tasty- and I am only recently on the sushi bandwagon. All up we spent about 25€ between two people, including almost too much sushi and a few soft drinks. So cheap and good, I would recommend this to anyone looking for something other than another expensive schnitzel dish in this German city.
We wanted to spend part of our Easter week-end visiting Koblenz and Trier and since we had our sushi loving kids with us (6 and 10), we decided to try this restaurant to please them. The owner is Japanese and despite our non-existant level of Japanese and very poor level of German, he was extremely nice and welcoming. He made sure all was perfect and took very good care of us. The meal was just great, super fresh and delicious, the green tea ice cream is lovely and at the end, right before we left, we even got a present: an opera song by Mr. Sumida himself! We visited many castles and saw great things during that week-end, but the kids keep repeating that their favorites things were the Playmobil exposition at the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, and Sushi Bar Pirates.Arigato Mr. Sumida, that was awesome!
I had stopped going to this restaurant for a bit and I paid a visit last week. It is the same old story. They are not able to plan in the customers and serve them on time. I waited 30 minutes for a take-away sushi costing over 50 Euros which I had ordered in advance and which should have been ready waiting for me at the appointed time. Instead I was sitting around in the restaurant waiting twiddling my tums. That is worth a two star.
Friendly and authentic food and service by Japanese chef. Reliable top quality Sushi. Ignore the reviews regarding the make up of the location. As it should be the food is important. That is just perfect. Only a few place I know are better but then a multiple of the price. Best value for money ever - real affordable. Freshly prepaired and reasonably served by the chef. You can clearly tell that conviction goes in to his work.come and visit - also from far it is worth the trip. Bzgl. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist diese Restaurant nicht zu übertreffen. Nur zu empfehlen. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder. Auch mit Freunden.
