Here is what's available at Cost-Savers: Kirkland Brand paper products/food items, fresh fruit and vegetables, food items ranging from the every day to hard to find gourmet cheeses, sausages, frozen meats/seafood, dairy products, locally produced greens and sprouts, cleaning supplies, household items, medications, liquor and wine...the list goes on and on.I see reviews that state the products cost twice that of a Costco, that is simply not true. Due to the fact that I am on an Island in the Gulf of Alaska, I can't believe it's not twice the price. I often find things at the Cost-Savers that I can't get at the Safeway or the Walmart, and I appreciate it very much. For instance, I buy the Kirkland branded pre cooked turkey breasts, and the mark up is roughly $5.00 more than I was paying in Massachusetts and Washington State. It's a very clean product, it's unavailable elsewhere, and I don't mind paying extra for shipping, handling, and providing jobs in my community. The Owner and Staff are friendly and helpful, even though they have endured a lot of suffering during this awful epidemic. Every customer stressed out to the max, so on and so forth, it's been hard on everyone, let alone those that work with the general public. They have had to work short handed, the delivery schedules have been jacked up, and they suffer my stupid questions with a smile. They really are bunch of cool people, and I appreciate them all very much. Drop by and check out Cost-Savers, you won't be disappointed.
These guys definitely serve a purpose in their town, just gonna need to be willing to buy stuff in bulk (for the most part) if you grocery shop here. Some of their prices on meat are a bit more expensive than they should be, even for here. The paper products we bought today cost in excess of $120, but was better quality than the place in town that starts with a W and would have cost about the same. Their produce is of pretty good quality from what we were seeing. Pretty good little selection of 'adult ' beverages. The employees were super helpful and friendly to us out of towners.
Asked if there was whole milk in the back seeing as I'm on a salmon tender and didn't have time to hit multiple stores, the clerk u asked told me no there wasn't any more and then said he would go double check after I said I'd just go to safeway.. for a town who thrives on commercial fishing, they need help with customer relations..
I tried the take and bake Friday pizza. It was good. Might have to add it to my Friday routine.
