The set lunchtime smorrebrod menu which they talk you through is v good served with a variety of Danish beer. The waitress was really helpful. She was not one of the cool hipster tattoo’d ones but an older lady who was a real asset to the place Only downside is that some of the tables are a bit close to each other. I imagine it is great at Xmas. Mainly Scandi people eating there.
We were visiting the Christiansborg palace on our final day in Copenhagen. When I heard that gluten free bread was available in the Tarnet restaurant it seemed the perfect place for our final lunch. We had initially only planned to have Smørrebrød the once, but are so glad we went here too. I have never before seen carrots or potatoes as a topping for sandwiches but the flavour combinations worked so well. We also tried the roast beef and ham salad. All were beautifully presented and delicious. Gluten free was no problem and they slightly adapted the topping where needed. They confirmed the gluten free dishes when they were brought to the table which is always reassuring. There is a view from the restaurant but be sure to go up to the viewing level after your meal. You do need to make a reservation as it’s a popular place, and for good reason. You get to skip ahead of those just going up the tower for security checks.
We chose this place to host a business dinner for a large group (20+ , and were far from disappointed. This restaurant is part of the portfolio of Claus Meyer, the “father” of New Nordic Cuisine, co founder of Noma and founder of a dozen other culinary projects. So let’s just say, the expectations were high coming in. There were two menus to choose from: omnivore and vegetarian. Both hit the mark. What was best about this place is the atmosphere: the space, with dizzyingly high vaulted ceilings, is gorgeous, yet you don’t feel dominated by the space or small and lonely the way the room is decorated and lit creates a very tasteful and almost a cozy (hyggelig? feel. The way our group was treated also helped us all feel at home and sharing a meal with friends as opposed to a formal dinner: some of the side dishes were served family style, the wine was flowing freely, the servers were cheerful and cracking jokes with the guests. All in all, it was a very, very pleasant experience. Hint: if you choose to dine here, go up 1 floor to the observation deck for the views of Copenhagen.
Beautiful and special venue with killer view, good and attentive service. The smørrebrød was really excellent, only no need for all that grated cheese on two of the pieces we ordered. The room was also a bit on the cold side for a windy autumn day, but otherwise all good. We would definitely return!
The restaurant's decor is stunning. Great ambiance. The food is delicious and had very friendly and helpful staff. There are security checks to get in. It was a treat to be having a meal surrounded by history with a stunning view.
