Pretending to be a good option, but nothing out of the ordinary. In fact, rather disappointing. The schnitzel was tough and greasy, and the asparagus badly peeled. Who in Germany does not know how to peel an asparagus, given the national pride while in season, such as when I visited? There are other much better restaurant options not far away here in Bad Godesberg.
This restaurant at the Insel hotel is open from 9 to 9. Simple far, but very well priced and tastes good.
I came here because I was staying at the Insel hotel and was traveling alone. The server was very friendly but the food was nothing special. There is also only a small menu in the afternoon so I was forced to have Flammkuchen (tarte flambée).The topping was ok but it was very crispy and was too pricy for what it was. The need to kick it up a notch - there isn't any competition on the square or nearby area. They could be doing a lot more business. Too bad because the hotel was nice.
This is central in Godesberg and we love coming here for a cocktail at happy hour as the choice is terrific, with weekly specials (beware the St Pauli Killer, which truly lives up to its name!) The service here is always excellent, friendly and fast. You can also eat something with you drinks, as happy hour means 2 drinks for the price of one and they are not diluted with lots of ice unlike some other places. We go for the mixed antipasto platter to mop up the alcohol. Must say however have been here for coffee with aged relatives and the service is also great, as is the terrific Sunday morning breakfast. Always a pleasure to come here.
