Japan Cafe Phangan - Koh Phangan

The restaurant has a nice ambiance, with a distinctly Japanese aesthetic. The sushi is decent but not outstanding. However, the Tom Yam ramen was particularly delicious.

Very good place with lovely owners who take good care of their customers. The meals are made with good quality ingredients and no artificial added. They make their own yoghourt from an old recipe. For Japanese cooking lovers, must try this place. Unfortunately there are 2 Japanese restaurants very similar and very close, one touching the other. So be aware to go in that one :

We had some Ramen and a couple of Gyoza, Natto and other Sidedishes. The Staff was superfriendly and the food was outstanding. Make shure to try the homemade Gingerale!

We had diner with my sister , in Japan cafe ! Great dishes , home made miso soup , fresh ingredients, great sushi and sashimi , the staff very kind and professional, EXCELLENT SERVICE. The place is shiny clean ! Thank you so much for this wonderful evening! We will come back for sure!!!

This was a unique experience for me as it was my first time getting food poisoning on Koh Phangan, where the food quality is typically reliable. It was also my first time getting sick at a Japanese restaurant, which was surprising since my previous visit had been great. I have a lot of respect for the chef, who is a humble guy that cooks everything from scratch. Despite the long wait for the food to be ready, the lack of proper hygiene was disappointing. The food tasted a bit off, but we didn't think much of it due to the restaurant's previous good reputation. Unfortunately, I ended up with diarrhea and stomach pain for two days. The price increase was also puzzling. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant as the sushi was of poor quality and overpriced compared to other high-quality places in Thailand. My advice is to take recent reviews with a grain of salt, as some restaurants struggle to maintain their standards over time.
