We decided to give Anake an attempt. Oh, my! They were fabulous. General portions of everything, great basic options (i.e. almond butter, peanut butter) combined to make these dishes delectable. A hint, a middle bowl is a lot for two! Do not miss this great find in the back of the Kukuilua market.
It is located in a supermarket, but we saw a decent amount of customers coming for the juice bar. It is one of the cheaper açaí bowl/smoothie places on the island. Since Dragon, the reason I got this bowl, was for the Lilikoi dusk. All the fruits worked well, but it felt pretty sweet, so I wish there was something mother butter to balance the sweet.
That's it! The hotel is located in the Kukuiula market in the rear left corner. I visited this place a few years ago during my first visit to Kauai after waiting to get sushi in the small store in front of the market. I remembered it was good so I stopped on my way to the airport when I was in Poipu. I had to wait a little before they took my order, but they let me know that they would come to me in a moment and I understand that the companies are short-occupied so that there was no problem. There are many seats on the back of the market if you want to eat there. I have Da Dragon Boxaya shell and the consistency was great. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious smoothie or an açaí/pitaya bowl.
If you like to go where locals go, you should enjoy Anakes. You are on the back of Kukuilua Store. Your menu is simple. They offer several fruit bowls and a variety of fresh juices. The Funky Monkey Açaí Bowl is a great choice. My favorite is Da Dragon fruit bowl. Limited hours when we visited 2023 were 9a-2p hours and closed to Tues and Thurs. They have seats at picnic tables and a few bistro tables. The girls behind the counter were neither super friendly nor eager to tell us about the menu and that's why they don't get 5 stars.
Off the beaten path just a bit but well worth the visit. The juice bar is in the back of a small grocery store and not a place you would visit unless you are staying close by. We went there specifically for an acai bowl and they did not disappoint! There was no line when we went and sat outside in our car to eat...they have a couple of picnic tables in the store but we wanted to be outside. We went because I knew my wife would enjoy...I liked it just as much as she did! It is worth the drive just for the experience and and amazing bowl of sorbet with fresh fruit, nuts, and other ingredients. We each got a medium bowl and were satisfied for lunch.
