Now everything looks nice, but the portions are very small and the taste is just average, without any excitement. The only delight remains the fantastic desserts. It's still worth stopping by just for those.
I was born in Repino, so my parents always went to the Flemish Rose. When I was about 7 years old, I decided to try a new dish after seeing my dad enjoy it—it was the tuna salad. When I tasted it, I thought, "Oh my, this is delicious!" From that point on, I kept ordering it again and again. Eventually, I got a bit tired of the usual desserts like ice cream and cookies. Speaking of cookies, they are amazing! If you mention that you're from Erik, they'll even give you some for free. The cookies are served with coffee, which is great. I also tried a new dessert called the chocolate truffle, and it was sweet, but not overly so—just perfect! Overall, this restaurant is amazing! XD
We often visit the equestrian sports club next to the restaurant, and we've always stopped by for lunch afterward. We really enjoyed this place—it was cozy and delicious. We especially appreciated that the staff didn't wear masks. However, today we walked in and felt like we had entered a parallel universe, where they support fascist and illegal decrees enforcing segregation based on vaccination status. There seems to be a lack of awareness about medical confidentiality and the right to refuse to share personal data. Perhaps hiring a lawyer is beyond their means. We were quite taken aback by it all. In the past, we had recommended this restaurant to many people. The pleasant atmosphere has turned completely 180 degrees. The masks have truly come off.
Flamand Rose is a very nicely decorated restaurant. The restaurant consist of a new building and perhaps hundred years old Finnish house. And of course there's outside (terrace) area. I'm extremely glad to see that these old buildings are kept in shape and respected instead of just demolishing in order to build something new. Staff is extremely helpful and the service is super! There are some minuses to this place as well. It is located near a busy road and the noise from the traffic is quite high. They do have couple seats for kids but there's no nursing room and no place to change diapers. Also it's a bit difficult to enter the place with a baby stroller as there are a few stairs and no ramp. This is also a big problem for persons with disabilities. The food is nothing special but not the worst either. I had baby lamb and the meat was tough and raw at the same time, far from being tender and tasty. French fries were hard and dry. Dessert wasn't surprising either. Drinks were good and their home made bread is excellent! I would't go here for the food only, but as an experience I recommend the place.
Come and see it. Wonderful place, especially in the winter.
