I loved this restaurant. Perfectly cooked food set in an warm, charming and intimate ambiance. The owners are delightful and nothing is too much trouble
I worked at this restaurant as a waiter. From the first day I experienced discrimination and oppression from the owner and chef Helmut Hammerl, who scolded and shouted at me. Some of the employees did not know Norwegian and only spoke to him in English. I had to use both English and Norwegian at work. Several times when I accidentally said something in English to the boss, he got angry and irritated. He screamed that he was going to throw me out. During the first two weeks I had to remind him to give me a work contract and that made him angry too. He used to say I push it. He yelled at me in front of other employees. He often got angry with others as well. But he liked to oppress me and once said that if I did not work well, he would send me back to my native country even though it was not up to him at all. It was a permanent position but I never got fixed days and they used me as a substitute by calling and asking every day. It completely ruined all my plans. The day I was supposed to get paid, I got nothing. Then I decided to resign and claim my money which I received in two months after termination. But I never got my tip money that I earned there. I sent letters to the boss but he ignored them. I experienced the time I worked at Peckel's restaurant as terrible oppression and discrimination.
The service and staff are perfectly fine. The Christmas plate in the middle of the tree. Many people like brown sauce cranberries, they didn't have that.
