Silver Dolphin Guesthouse - Kracheh

We had a great room on level 4. clean comfortable bed, not too hard. great view of belcony about the mekong. room was clean and ac worked well. the bathroom clean and functional, the step in is a large. other wise excellent. close to tourist information, markets, ferry and bus stop (300 m.)

Accomodation is fairly basic. We upgraded from a fan room to an Aircon room which was definitely worth it. There was also a difference in the cleanliness and quality of rooms here. Be open minded to the appearance of the hostel from the street as it does look basic and is more of a homestay than a hotel. The family are very friendly and welcoming and helped us organise a kayak trip, onward travel and motorcycle hire. All good. Food is excellent and very cheap here. I would recommend staying here.

We stayed at Dolphin Guesthouse for two nights and it did not disappoint us. Cheap room and clean bathroom with hot shower. Really good position, right on the river to enjoy sunset, cheap menu prices. Lovely and helpful owner who also allowed us to store our backpacks for one night while we were at Koh Trong island. Unfortunately our fan just worked at maximum speed.

The place is very basic, as you'd expect for the price. The owner wasn't particularly friendly when we checked in but slowly warmed up, a bit. The toilet cistern doesn't have a lid, and there's a school next door (so not a place for a nice sleep in). They do have good food, their tour prices seem reasonable and they can organise onward travel visa bus. Overall it's what you'd expect for the price, with the food here being better than expected (both quality and price).

It's difficult to criticise as staff are genuinely friendly and good English is spoken. However, I was disappointed with price to quality ratio of my single room. I had a single room on the first floor with low ceilings (had to watch my head), a window but somehow no daylight, and the room smelled really badly of toilet. The bathroom door did not close and the shower was malfunctioning with only cold water available. Nice rooftop bar area. Motorbikes available to rent. I stayed for the same price of $6 in a much better room the following night. It's still cheap but the price is not fair given what's available on the market.
