The Wurmegg Hochleger is a relatively new ski chalet on the Schatzberg in the Ski Juwel ski resort. It is located at the top of the connecting track (J2) that connects Inner Alpbach to the Wildschönau. In good weather there is a beautiful large terrace with a view down into the valley, alternatively there is plenty of space inside, with from one side of the building, similar views. The service is fast and friendly, but of course, what has this my favorite ski chalet made in the ski jewel is the quality food. The roast potatoes with fried eggs and served cakes are hot to die. The menu has a good selection at reasonable prices, with, if I remember correctly, an English description. There are also vegetarian elements on the menu if you do not eat meat. Finally, there are good toilets below. Definitely my favorite and I try to eat skiing here two or three times a week.
Two years on the trophy, mum and I visited this ski resort, and made a good effort on our ski tours to allow here as often as the weather would allow. There is a great atmosphere, sharing table and organized hostesses. Very attentive and efficient....Good daily specialties for speed, although a little more expensive, but good costs for all dishes with quality and good portion sizes. If it is nice to sit outside, what a view! and for people who are also watching. Many well spaced pegs for ski equipment, beautiful toilets and many ski racks. Great place.
Honest food. Honest service. Honest prices. Although there is enough room for everyone to feed the tourists on Alpbach's mountains, there is a limited supply of good mountain restaurants. This is a positive exception!
Just opened in December 2016 near the top of the Schatzberg (mountain), just off to the side of the gondola from Inner Alpbach to Wildschonau. The location, perched near the top of a mountain, lets you look down three separate valleys depending on which side...you are sitting at. A well planned restaurant with various tables, some as 6 8 seaters others as two person, as well as stools at the bar. A large range of Tyrolean specialities as well as the traditional 'international ' skiing delights. The XXL Schnitzel is exactly as advertised and can fill two hungry adults if you 're willing to share! Fast and friendly service with many of the owner 's family involved. What else would you expect with the restaurant located at the very top of their farm land! Well worth a visit (via the gondola from Inner Alpbach) by non skiers for the views alone the food is a bonus. An easy 25m walk from the top station to the front door of the restaurant.
