Gostilna Stari Mayr - Kranj

We only had dinner there and did not stay. The food was very good, especially the goulash. However, we had to wait a long time, more than we should have. The staff were also friendly, despite being quite busy.

My experience at Gostilna Stati Mayr has been extremely negative from the beginning. The welcome left a lot to be desired and the initial impact of the place was bad. Although the rooms were new, the linen was in a questionable state, with half of it clearly old and worn. The guest house and adjoining pub appeared to be unsanitary, with objects and furniture piled up here and there, creating an unwelcoming environment. While some employees were friendly, others were unhelpful and inattentive to guests' needs. Breakfast was disappointing, non-existent already at 9 in the morning, with discount products and a bad surprise: a bite on one of the last donuts left on the buffet. The request for a scrambled egg was satisfied with an omelette cut into small triangles, a sign of disorganized management. Overall a really bad experience. The Kranj area also did not add any value to the stay, offering nothing memorable or interesting. I would absolutely not recommend Gostilna Stati Mayr to anyone and would suggest that you avoid this establishment completely for your stay. We did not stay at the inn, we only went for dinner because we had seen good references. The attention is exquisite. The dishes are very rich and abundant. Above all, we highlight the Goulash, homemade and with a delicious flavor, and the Štruklji sirovi, which are cheese rolls from the area. This day they did not have the typical sausages, a pity. Stopped by for dinner while visiting Kranj. The restaurant is located in the center and is therefore very convenient. I've read reviews that talk about slow service, but I haven't had the same experience... on the contrary... the waiter was very kind, quick and always busy with many customers. The food was excellent and plentiful (my wife and I had a plate of grilled meat for two and left the table more than full). The prices are average but very fair.
