It's a western style coffee shop but I would say it's a Japanese style western cafe which I love. Great atmosphere. Just about average taste (both coffee and food), English-speaking staffs. I would revisit in my next Kyoto trip.
We liked this little coffee shop for its location on the corner of Kiya-machi Dori and Sanjo Dori and the relaxed unpretentious atmosphere. Despite being a big chain with numerous branches dotted around the country, with a higher concentration in the Kansai region, Ogawa Coffee retains a certain charm. Staff were friendly and professional. We opted for one of the desert sets and a late. The coffee was ok but unremarkable as was the desert but there was nothing to complain about. A perfect spot for some people watching or catching up with fiends, or, as in our case, ducking out of the rain for half an hour.
Enjoyed a quiet morning at the second floor window seat. the food and coffee are of standard coffee-shop quality. staff is helpful and un-obtruding. music is the comfortable country-jazz instrumental style. very relaxing.
The place was small and cozy, the other customers looked like they enjoyed their desserts. In my case, I waited for a long time for a coffee which never arrived. I arrived at 1:30 in the afternoon and ordered a simple coffee and sandwich set. Two to three customers had been served and I am still waiting for my coffee and sandwich. I was sitting in front of the barista bar in the first floor since I'm solo, and so that they can easily see me. It was 2:40 pm when a barista handed me a menu asking me to order. I left the store because I cannot wait for another hour to get an order.
