El Charro Mexican Food - La Jolla

A great spot! Authentic Mexican food. The staff are friendly and respectful of allergies if you have them. In our case even asked additional questions to make sure they got the order correct. Food cooked to order and very fresh. Our plates came out hot with the steam coming off the plates. Fish tacos were solid. Everything was delicious in our experience. The inside of the restaurant has a decent amount of seating and is super chill/casual. Service was quick and this was exactly what we were hoping for. We had stopped in for dinner and had a great experience here. Would stop in again if I am in the area.

We ordered a chicken taco and chicken quesadilla both swimming in grease. Meh! Nasty -so that lunch set us back 27$? Yep, go in town away from the beach ...

I recently discovered the best fish burrito in La Jolla near the beach! The restaurant may not be fancy, but I prefer to assess it based on the food and service. When I visit San Diego, I always crave seafood. Fish tacos or burritos are my go-to when trying a new eatery. El Charro exceeded my expectations. I devoured the entire burrito in just 15 minutes. Whether it was the fresh fish, lightly crispy batter, tender meat, crunchy cabbage, or tangy sauce, every bite was delicious. At $15, it was worth every penny for this substantial burrito (almost a pound) that satisfied both my eyes and taste buds. I will definitely be returning to El Charro again and again! The service was excellent and the restrooms were clean.

The service was friendly and helpful, the food was incredibly delicious, and the ambiance was very relaxed. It's the perfect spot with a variety of options to choose from.

El Charro receives a 3-star rating. The fish tacos are not impressive and are too expensive.
