This place has changed since I last came here 2 years ago! Soju and fruit bowls were poppin back then... now it looks like this place has grown up! Strolled in on a Friday night and this place was packed! Isn 't big at all but every table and bar stool was taken! We got lucky at the bar tho We were expecting soju since that 's what I drank last time but they have a new drinking menu (at least compared to last time . A lot of the alcoholic drinks seem classier now and the bartenders seem to take the time to craft each cocktail. Its like they want you to appreciate the alcohol and not just get f**ked up. A shot of this... with a squeeze of orange peel there...and a hint of mint here... It was fun to watch I ordered the El Diablo which was a Fruity tequila drink. I enjoyed it but it seemed a little too tarty for my taste. It did hit me though... that 's what 's important right? ; and I like how they use huge square ice cubes haha They serve beers on tap as well.. my date got two IPAs. Service was friendly... everyone working in there looked between 21-30 years old which is my age group so it was easy to converse with them On a Friday they have a DJ who I think just plays a playlist on shuffle or whatever The decor is nice and hip... with pink Christmas lights drapped around the bar and dim lighting every where else. Parking SUCKS tho!!! But that 's literally the case everywhere in Convoy... they have some parking spaces in the back. DON 'T DRINK AND DRIVE because not just for the safety of your life...but because the spaces are kinda tight. Asians and driving are already a bad mix sometimes so don 't plan on throwing alcohol in that equation. Don 't hit my car! I 'm sure they have food but I 've never tried any yet and I probably will in the future...
My work buddy got me to come out of my little box of normal neighborhoods to go for good eats and I am glad he did. He knows I like fusion food places that can make a true fusion cuisine vice just a menu with 2 kinds of cuisines on it. The place is small and easy to miss being in a strip mall with a small front as are most places in this area of Convoy. Thank god he knew right where to go as I had no idea. Service is great, Anthony the head chef is a way, cool guy! He spoke to us during our visit and explained exactly what went into our plates, why they make it that way etc...the story behind the eats. My drunk noodle dish was spot on awesome! I have had a fair share of this dish but not like this with an infused mole like sauce. The first time tasting of gyoza left me a fan for sure! Mushroom gyoza at that which he says is only where good gyoza begins! Prices are fair, service good, food good and fast. Not the absolute best I have had but it ranks up there as being truly unique food!
I've walked by SOHO plenty of times and always wanted to check it out. Asian food mixed with a gastropub.... Yes! Right when you walk in you can feel the establishment has a great atmosphere to it. We were seated right away on a Friday which is rare if you've dined on Convoy. The staff was on point as well as our waitress came around multiple times throughout the night asking if we needed anything. Our table decided to share a bunch of plates and appetizers. We ordered the bulgogi fries (a must try) which was huge and came with tots, fries, and curly fries. The fries also had a little Cajun taste to it which was awesome. We also ordered the beef pad thai, chicken wings, lao jerky, and the bibimbap. All the food was spectacular especially the jerky and bibimbap. The jerky came with a sweet and sour dipping sauce and the bibimbap was prepared on a hot plate that kept cooking as you ate it. SOHO also hosts a ton of local brews on tap that can fit anyone's taste buds. This is a great spot to catch happy hour, watch a game w/ a beer, or date night spot. Our waitress told us it gets pretty live Friday nights after 10 pm as they have a DJ who comes in. 4 people had plenty of food and multiple drinks for under $30 a person w tip. 100% going to be back to SOHO sooner than later...
I'm so glad that I cam here with some friends. I've heard about this place from other yelpers because we attempted to stop by here for a drink but they were close when we arrived. Mondays Finally stopped by here after we ate at another restaurant for a quick night cap. I wish we ate here instead. : The menu looked really good and I'm glad that we did get to taste the sticky rice and lao jerky. The sticky rice as on point and it went so well with the lao jerky. Great in flavor and not tough like some other jerkys. Our servers' name was Doris and she was so pleasant, helpful and nice. She gave us the background of the restaurants name SOHO. And no, the name SOHO has no relation to New York City. My friends all come here to drink from time to time and they love the atmosphere and vibe. There's also a DJ on the weekends. : That's a plus. I only hangout with friends who drink-LOL Definitely a place to return to and check out the weekend fun but most especially a place to return to eat some delicious food.
