Some people complain about the prices, but they need to understand that this restaurant is located in one of the most expensive cities in San Diego County. It is not fair to compare it to other places like those in Convoy or Los Angeles. The Vietnamese restaurants in those areas have so much competition that they need to keep their prices competitive. I also saw a review from someone who gave the restaurant a 1-star rating because they were told that the kitchen was closing at 9:30 pm and they could only do take-out orders. It is common practice for restaurants to stop taking dine-in orders before closing time so that the kitchen staff can clean up and go home on time. Most restaurants in San Diego have similar policies. I will continue to support this restaurant and recommend trying the chicken pho with beef broth instead of chicken broth, it is excellent.
Does not look so much when they pass this little mini shopping center. it can be so worrying when compared to the large shopping center next door with many dining options. it is tiny, but powerful. in taste. the first plate was an appetizer, egg rolls that were hot and fresh from the cake. next were our main dishes, reisgericht nudelsuppe (to forget to make a picture). after that they saw that one of the courts was not properly done and they were friendly enough to take it from the bill without mentioning anything.
I visited this restaurant as a UCSD student because it was the only place nearby to get pho, but the prices have become quite high. A bowl of pho costs around $20, regardless of the type. Appetizers are $10 for two pieces, which is double the price compared to other restaurants. The quality of the food is average. Despite the high prices, this is the only pho spot in the UTC area, and rent in this area is expensive, so I understand the need for higher prices. I want to support this local Vietnamese-owned business, but the prices make it difficult.
It is not surprising that this place has only 3 stars. the owner was very disastrous to me when I gave a job on the other day. he made some accounting on a writing next to the register when I entered, and he was noticeably disappointed about the amount of the tremendous or lacking that he broke in. So he decided to take over it. when another man took my order, he jumped in front of the bank and took over the transaction. first he tried to annoy me to order more than I wanted to order. when I went back respectfully, he was irritated. then I asked him a question about an article on the menu, and his ton became very contagious, impatient and antagonistic. I kept ordering and was kind and respectful to him all the time, although he had not deserved it. When I waited patiently for my order, he asked me if it was my first time in the restaurant. I told him that I've been there for over 20 years! (frankly, the only reason I go in there is because it's the closest place to order pho). he then tried to force me to eat in the restaurant, because it was practically empty during the evening meal and he wanted to use me to attract more customers. that is the oldest trick in the book. I kind of rejected him and told him I had to go. When that finally came out 30 minutes later, I ask him for a hoisin sauce and chili sauce. here is the thing very strange. he turned around and gave me a dead star and said: no! I was a little taken back from his bizarre outbreak, but I was still nice to him during this most unpleasant moment of interaction. I asked him again if I could get some sauce packages, then he went on to tell me a long story about supply chain problems and how he would have to charge me extra. I was so disgusting of his careless and unprofessional demeanor that I simply said thank you and went back, without intention, again and again after 20 years of patronage. the owner of this facility must realize that we expect a common courtesy and the most basic level of customer service here in the united states of America. he must look into himself to realize why his takings fall, why his restaurant is empty, and why he just lost a customer of over 20 years.
SLOWEST SERVICE EVER! the food was delicious but come with the intent to wait! Also they're very understaffed so that's most likely the reason. Super nice though, a little bit of a language barrier but nothing extremely struggling. Edit: I just received the check they charged me $2 for a fucking Togo box are u kidding me like yeah imma pay cuz I'm not letting it go to waste but seriously? Yeah never coming back. Pho was good, service eh but the extra charge topped it off.
