I asked if they have menus as indicated on their website, but she says they don't. so we ordered from the card (not the same prices as we, the menus we have read were much better worth! . the soße is the sander (fish was very salty and liquid, not like any other “sandre au beurre blanc” I tested at various places very disappointing. the children have ordered the child menu. the main dish of the children's menu was very good French french french and huh in a beautiful sauce. time to dessert: we ordered what we saw was on the map. Once we finished the meal, we went back to the first room and then we realized: 1/ all other customers sat there and offered a menu at 13.90 euro, which was hanging in the meantime in the room (they told me they had no set menu . 2/ I realized that the child menu included a dessert. I asked why they did not offer us the dessert of the children's menu, as my children had ordered the children's menu. she replied that she “ had no time to offer us how she was busy with another customer” but she had time to offer us the desserts card a la carte that were extra expensive. So, all in a, apart from the good child main dish, disappointing eating, and very dishonest service I felt like a tourist to tear off.
My other half comes from this region and the search for local restaurants that offer quality, connected with worth has always been more difficult. until we first visited auberge de l’abbaye. the set menu was worth every cent. a young friendly waiter helped. to take our weights when entering and easily switch between French and English for our group. the food was perfect. three courses and an aperitif for 25 euro including a quarter wein to boot. the salmon was there! the sauce was delicious and the broth was fresh. the children served first, ate for 9 euro. main course and dessert (homemade frit were so beautiful that I stole a few). the room we ate over the river and grew up. it was winter and the low sun that seemed through the big windows was very welcoming. there is a great small park at the heck for the nipper to enjoy while the elders digest, chat and walk next to the loire. a slight negatiw, and it is slight, the wee was slowly on the table after the board captain was served. the chef was created for a short and discreet chat to ensure that everything was too satisfaction. that was it. I will return. that is a sure thing!
We have eaten here many times and never been disappointed. The food is wonderful and service very friendly. We always start with a cocktail maison and go on from there! The set menu is excellent value for money with a nice choice meat or fish. On this occasion the st jacques and veal were superb. The view over the river is lovely and an amazing view to have either lunch or dinner.
Why are we often just one of two tables enjoying the delicious food in this restaurant? Somehow, more people ought to savour the wonderful, traditionally flavoured, food. The chef appears at the table before the start, and, tonight, even bid us farewell at the door, after desert and coffees. Do come and visit. You will not be disappointed. Even if the ambiance is a tad quiet. Make your own! The food is great, good wine and normally priced.
Having not been to l'Auberge for a while we thought we might take a bit of a gamble. But no, the food was as good as we remembered. Classical french cuisine. Whole confit fig fruit accompanied the foie gras starter. Delicious, to both of us. One fowl and one beef as plat and they didn't disappoint. Service was very friendly and it was great to see the chef appear at the table to find out if he had pleased us. And he had.
