Walmart Neighborhood Market - La Mesa

I recently moved to the area and decided to check out this Walmart based on reviews. Overall, it's just average. It has a good selection of groceries for cooking, but the produce section is lacking. For fruits and vegetables, I'd recommend going to Trader Joe's instead, as Walmart's prices are quite high. For example, I was looking to buy oranges here, and they were around $1 each, while at Trader Joe's, you can get 12 for $5.

Gift cards are a pain at walmart. Checker could not help, assistant manger cane over could not help. Told me to get mobile app, and walked away. Checker did her best to try again. Asst. Manager was useless and did not care that i could not redeem card. Perhaps he could have stayed with it to get card redeemed, line was getting very long, i left. Extremely poor customer service.

I came here regularly for years. But some employees are rude and unprofessional. Some lady gave me nasty look and said oh god . I laugh inside for this foolishness. I am guessing Walmart losing customers for this kind of behavior and unwelcoming attitude. All the good employees disappeared unfortunately.

I had one of the best experiences at this neighborhood market than I've ever had at any grocery store. Outside when I was putting my groceries away there was a guy named Matthew who helped me put my groceries in my car. I didn't have a lot of heavy items, I just had my two children so multitasking was a bit difficult in the busy parking lot. He was the friendliest person I think I have ever met At a grocery store. This was right around Thanksgiving time, a time when things are high stress and usually people are not very friendly, he restored my faith in good hearted people. Give him a raise.

The experience was disappointing. I had to scan and pack my own food, which is not worth the effort. Half of the items wouldn't scan properly. It's frustrating when there are plenty of employees around who seem to be enjoying themselves but can't manage to open a register. Overall, I’m not impressed.
