Smashing service the lovely woman who served us had embarrassingly good English. There's a dining room at the back...which was welcome on a hot day like today. I think it's open Monday to Friday, and only on reservation at the weekends and in the evenings. You'll find La Chaumiere on the junction of the and the
This restaurant is now completely separate from the hotel and run by a young couple, already very experienced in running a restaurant. We visited on the first lunch time of opening and were impressed. Service with a smile, an excellent selection of cold dishes for...the usual menu ouvrier buffet. It was all fresh and nicely prepared and presented. A good choice of main dishes. Between the four of us we had jambon braisé, joue de porc and steak, with a choice of accompaniments. All three were full of taste. Those that had steak said it was the best they had had for a long time. Followed by cheese and dessert, among which was a rich and delicious chocolate mousse, fait maison. Coffee and wine were included in the price of euros. An alternative was a bottle of cider. To mark the opening of the restaurant a glass of kir is offered throughout the month of February. We shall return and no doubt recommend to guests who stay with us.
A group of seven of us have just eaten at La Chaumiere in this village. We all totally enjoyed what we ate which varied from the extensive serve yourself buffet to a choice of cuisse de canard', steak or salmon in butter sauce, all served...with salad or frites'. There was a delicious choice of ice cream, fresh fruit salad and creme caramel for dessert. The meal includes a cheese course with wine included. Fantastic value for money and a wonderful atmosphere. We have all booked for the special Christmas meal being held next weekend. We would recommend anybody to visit this restaurant which has a consistently high standard.
