Karray's is located in One Val Verde Place (a shopping center in the southwest corner of the 96th & Giles intersection in La Vista). Karray's Café (Karray is a portmanteau of the owners' first names) started off in Bellevue near 36th & 370. They took over what used to be Vidlak's Café. Rumor has it that when their lease came up for renewal the landlord tried to stick it to them on the rent for the new lease. So, Karray's closed up shop in Bellevue and moved to One Val Verde Place in La Vista. On my first visit in January I had the Hot Meatloaf Sandwich. You can get it with or without the bell peppers in the mix. This meal was a little disappointing. First, the meatloaf tasted like someone accidentally dumped a gallon of Worcestershire Sauce in the meat mix when making it. Second, it was cold. When I called the lady, one of the owners actually, over and told her it was cold she said, "You know. I saw that in the kitchen and thought it was a pretty thick slice and might come out cold." So, you anticipated the problem and didn't do anything to prevent it? What kind of ownership is that?! She returned with a hotter slice of meatloaf. Strong Worcestershire Sauce flavor and food temp aside, it's was a decent meal for the price. So, fast forward 6 months and I go in to give the place a second go. I ordered the Hot Beef Sandwich. It was very good. Gravy was tasty, meat was good, and the green beans that were the vegetable of the day were superb. Overall, a very good meal. The only annoyance was that the dull butter knife I was given with my flatware would not cut through the beef. That's not to say the beef was tough, but the knife was just horrible useless for anything other than spreading butter. Service is very friendly and attentive. Food is good. It's not great or superb or anything to jump and shout about, but it's also not bad. Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives will probably not be filming here anytime soon. If you live in the area then definitely stop in, but I wouldn't drive across town and pass a half dozen other diners and cafés just to eat at this one.

Now I am a little biased, but if they are looking for a place with delicious food, a family-friendly atmosphere and good prices - this is it! not only that, they increase money for the local police department k-9 units and have increased like 20 or 30 thousand dollars!
