The restaurant closes at 4 o'clock and the dining room doesn't open until 5 o'clock. The food is greasy, cold, and disgusting. The waitress provided great service, but the food was a major letdown.
The restaurant is located inside the Labiche Inn. Enter the café towards the back. It only opens at 6:00 PM for dinner. You will be pleasantly surprised by the large, modern, and beautifully decorated facility that has been a part of this hotel for over ten years. I have personally dined here some time before 2007. While it is unclear if it has always been called Northern Lights, that is the name listed on the Labiche Inn website. I don't recall seeing an outside sign, and the menus only advertise the hotel. Nevertheless, this restaurant is top-notch and would be a great addition to any community. The specialty seems to be Chinese cuisine, but they also offer steaks and Western dishes. My wife and I tried two unique and outstanding Chinese dishes, which we enjoyed immensely. We came back two days later and tried soup and a combination plate, which were again superb. The food was freshly made, hot and delicious, and some of the best we've had in ten years. I am at a loss as to why this restaurant has not received more recognition. Perhaps there was a name change or maybe visitors were unaware of its existence. Either way, the Northern Lights Dining Room is a high-end establishment in Lac La Biche and should not be missed. The building also houses a café and a separate lounge. Give it a try.
I have never had anything so horrible in my life, the place used to be the spot to go, but recently it is horrible, restaurant closes at 4pm, dining room opens at 5pm, you wait for your food but then it is disgusting, greasy, cold, service from waitress is great but the food service, disgusting,
Located within the LaBiche Inn. Enter past the cafe towards the back. It opens at 6:00 pm for dinner only. You will be surprised with what you find; a large, modern, beautifully decorated facility that has existed in this hotel for over ten years as far as I know because I ate here a number of times prior to 2007. (Whether it has always been called Northern Lights is hard to determine, but that name is on the LaBiche Inn website, although I don't recall seeing an outside sign and the menus simply advertise the hotel.). Regardless this would be an A1 facility built to a standard where it would complement any community. The house speciality would appear to be Chinese food, but it does advertise steaks and Western fare. My wife and I ordered two Chinese dishes which were unique and superb. To confirm our opinions we returned again two days later and ordered soup and a combination plate. Again superb. Freshly made, hot and delicious. Without question the best we have been served in ten years. Credit the chef. I am at a loss to explain why this restaurant was not previously rated. Perhaps it had a name change or perhaps travellers didn't know it was there? Regardless the Northern Lights Dining Room is far and away the most high end facility in Lac La Biche, not,to mention the best place to eat. The building also contains a cafe and a separate lounge. Give it a try.
