The store has plenty of supplies for camping needs, and also has some specialty items, mainly of ditch origin. Sauces, mixes and unique condiments can be found here. The restaurant portion is a little dated but still maintains its charm. Little interesting trinkets hung on the wall and a very cool clock. The menu has a good selection of food at very reasonable prices. And the portions are very generous. The Dutch items were very tasty, as were the soups and sandwiches. The staff were very friendly, and the facilities are well stocked and clean. There were a few critters flying around due to people forgetting to close the screen door to the outdoor patio however. All in all a very enjoyable experience for our friends and family. A unique location, charming feel, great menu selection and well executed food is what this place is all about. The Wooden Shoe is definitely worth a visit!
Restaurant: great portion size, good selection of western and authentic Dutch fare. Some of the burgers seemed to skyrocket in price without explanation, but the rest was nice and awesome to have the smaller sizes options. We didn?t get to try the patio but it looked spacious. Store: HUGE selection, everything from gluten free stroopies to an entire wall of licorice; teas, sauces, recipe kits, even calendars souvenirs. Plus the regular store stuff you?d want in a beach town-pop, chips, etc. And a whole section in the back with essentials for pantry and camping. Ice Cream: moved out back makes it well laid out for lines but NEEDS to have the flavors posted outside for while you wait. One family inside at a time, must pay prior to selecting flavors, causes delays with kids. Liquor store: new and nice option! I love the mix six of coolers options, not just beer. Great cold options and for the small shop size a good selection of wine, spirits, large and small sizes, and even (of course) some Dutch specials.
Our first time visiting this little shop and restaurant. It is surprisingly well stocked with a bit of everything. We stopped for dinner. The food was good and the clam chowder was particularly good. We did not leave hungry. They have a decent patio as well as an indoor dining area. We'll have to return to try some of their selection of fruit pies and ice cream. They had quite a variety available to sample. We'll be back for more.
The wooden shoe never disappoints! We went for breakfast this morning and it was a 10/10. Good food along with great staff! If you go there make sure to get the pofferties they?re realllly good. You also can?t go wrong with any baked goods they have around the front counter, I believe I?ve tried them all and they?re delicious!
Food was well over cooked. Had to get my own utensils from the countertop. Didn?t know who was a waitress from who was a customer as they have no shirt or anything of the sort to identify them as a worker. Two of my orders were incorrect and they don?t bother correcting it. The worker didn?t even know what sides they had on the menu. I don?t recommend this place. However the store itself is good.
