With a few tables on the pavement of the busy Rua da Porto, the main town centre Boulevard, it’s great for people watching as well as eating. We have been here in the past and nothing much seems to have changed, which is not a bad thng. The tables outside are quite tightly arranged but that didn’t cause us any bother. We chose the local specialities (but avoided the pizza and seafood rice based on reviews) and found the food tasty, well presented and good value. I had an issue with one of my meals (lacking an ingredient) but the waiter sorted it out immediately and without any fuss. I count that as a positive. In fact all the staff were polite and friendly. I find how one is treated can often depend on one’s attitude.
My dad and I, went there for lunch, Waiter was attentive and just took down the order, we ordered melon with ham, portuguése style pork stew with clams and and fish caldeirada(stew), some olives, bread and cheese. Melon arrived straight away and was dry, we complained and sent it back, with no problem. Pork and fish stew arrived, and they were excellent... Just a pity about the starters, then we ordered coffees and beirao, typical Licor to finish up... In general, all OK. Restaurant fairly clean, however it's more than 50yrs old so I took that into consideration. Price was OK also, judge for yourselves.
Worst rice dish Arroz de Marisco I have ever eaten in Portugal! I’ve been visiting the Algarve since 1978! The fish consisted of rice and crab sticks artificial shellfish). There were two tiny prawns and a few clams hiding in the bottom of the pot like an endangered species! What an absolute insult to the client!
Calidad precio inmejorable. Teniendo en cuenta su ubicación inmejorable.Servicio rápido y la comida increíble. Os recomiendo la cataplana de marisco estaba increíble.
Basic fare but well cooked. Mushrooms in garlic and prawns in garlic both delicious. Sardines were plentiful and cooked to perfection. The monkfish in rice was good. Perhaps stick to fish rather than steak. The Algarve tart should not be missed.
