Over the past few years we have been to The Grape Vine on 4 or 5 occasions, so this is not based on a chance encounter. Firstly, if you don’t know it’s there it’s not easily stumbled upon. But please persevere with your SatNav or Google Maps because it is worth the discovery. The owner front of house is Leo (originally from South Africa and this is reflected in the menu wine choice). He will make you welcome, assist in menu choice, serve you, take your payment and everything in between with the consummate ease of a man in total charge and with the knowledge and style of a great restaurateur giving a personal service. The menu is not extensive, but varied enough to give ample choice. As mentioned above there are some special African dishes intertwined with your standard options. We’ve sampled a good cross section enough now to confirm the quality is exceptional in all cases. The surroundings are lovely and inviting. Quirky enough to be interesting, but nothing to distract from the food drink. Taking all this into account, one might expect a hefty bill at the end. Not so. A most reasonable price list compared to the quality on offer. If you are in the area, seek it out. Luckily we had local knowledge to take us there the first time we visited. Thank you again Leo hopefully see you again soon.
What can i say. Every year whilst on holiday we eat atbthe Grapevine 3 orv4vtimes. Food always absolutely top notch. Leo the laconic owner is a bonus!
Fantastic food excellent Sunday lunch , Leo and Terri are excellent hosts. We visited a few times a lovely atmosphere. Lovely bacon and egg toastie with chips, and the excellent babotie.
I let you eat. the place is obviously a place irrigation hole as well as a restaurant. it seems of only lady, the bartender, waitress, hostess chef and bottle washer. welcome was ok, eating was nice and excellent. when they go, there is prepared for a long evening as it took almost an hour and a half to get our main courses. that said the house wine was in order, there was a wood burner and music of the and so the time, the thing seemed not so important. we're going back.
