Taco Mel is undoubtedly our favorite spot for authentic Mexican food in Lake Charles. It’s a straightforward taco place with prices that are better than Taco Bell. You simply walk in, specify that you want sautéed onions and veggies on your taco, and then customize it to your liking. If it doesn't taste good, it's likely because you didn't get it right! We absolutely love the barbacoa tacos and quesadilla, but it's tough to make a bad choice here. Honestly, this is probably the best option in Chuck, especially since we don’t have Chipotle or Izzo’s. Even when those eventually open up (which may never happen), we’ll still keep coming back here.

I visited this restaurant for the first time, and the food was fantastic! I had shrimp with onions and peppers, and I loved it. You can customize your salad at the salad bar, which is a nice touch. Overall, I can’t wait to go back!

The shrimp tacos and quesadillas are fantastic! I highly recommend them. I could easily eat them twice in under 10 minutes, even when they were packed.
