It's the kind of eating place where patients can be a virtue, don't go if you think you might see someone you know and aren't in the mood to be neighborly, and don't order odd things at a seafood/chicken restaurant if you don't want to wait for the time it takes to cook it. I have ordered a hamburger steak, it takes a little while for it to get done as they don't have them ready and waiting in a warmer, and it always very good. They have a pork chop on the menu, grilled or fried, and if anyone in the party orders a pork chop we know it'll be a little while. But it comes out piping hot, crispy fried, and making us all wish we'd ordered one. And always a take home box is needed cause the orders are always piled high. Plenty of food to eat on your plate. I suppose if I worked there, I'd be a little grumpy every time I walked by the salad bar and saw what a mess has been made, or if I had to clean up a table where the guests left a sloppy mess and little if any tip. Be kind to the folks at the Lake City Shrimper, they are after all working.Trying to get your food served, keep your tea glass full, and not spill an overfilled tray on your head in passing by. I don't know how they do it but they make it look easy. Sure, it could be a little cleaner, a little more elbow room, and a little less waiting but then it wouldn't be the Shrimper...in Lake City, SC that has a parking lot packed full for most of the lunch and supper hours. Go Figure...
Good food. Horrible help. Poor management. Is there any on site supervision?
The best non beach seafood I have ever eaten and Stephanie was the nicest person that has ever served us at the Shrimper. Most servers there are crabby and short tempered but she was a sweetheart. My wife Rev. Janet Coker was very impressed with her. We eat at or from this Shrimper at least 2 times a week. The food helps us put up with the help. We moved here from Charleston and they know seafood but yours is just as good and your chicken is better. Please train your help. They would not have a servers job in Charleston.
Food is great and staff is friendly. However, it would be so much more efficient if the pick up window (drive thru) was for call ins only. The wait time is about 15 minutes per car. Both myself and the car ahead of me had call ins. Unfortunately the other people ahead of us did not. I've been sitting here for 25 minutes. If it was call ins only, more people could be served.
I was interested to find out what Maryland Fried Chicken was. I am delighted to say It's Great. The service was smooth considering the place was very busy. The wait was not long at all but, the food was fresh. The baked potato was good and I love their hush puppies. I will be going by to try their seafood soon.
