He also reminded us about the half-price appetizers that evening, which were a great deal. The crab cakes were delicious, and the nachos, quesadillas, and fried platter were all very good. The only downside was the temperature in the restaurant. Despite the cold weather outside, the heat should have been turned up. Most of the adults kept their coats and sweatshirts on. Our food cooled quickly, but overall we had a pleasant experience in a lively atmosphere.
During our travels in the area, we chose to visit Waterfront at the Abbey due to its stunning waterfront view. The girls were impressed by the scenery, while the guys appreciated the numerous televisions for watching sports. Our server provided excellent recommendations on dishes to try and described their flavors accurately.
I understand that restaurants like this typically hire seasonal staff for the busy summer months, often with younger and less experienced servers. However, we were quite disappointed with the service. As we were staying at the hotel, my husband and I dined there twice with our two young toddlers. The first visit was satisfactory, with the only issue being a dirty high chair. The second visit, however, was terrible. The waiter forgot our simple drink order of three waters and a beer. For a hotel of this caliber, we expected much better service.
The menu seemed limited. We wanted more of a fine dining experience, and it was more like going to Applebees. I had the ribs and chicken-it was good. The sweet potatoe fries were the best. My wife had the pasta dish that was average. We were disappointed as we wanted steak or seafood. There was more staff than customers.
This place was pretty much just a hotel restaurant. We had driven 25 mins from our hotel to go to this place and feel we could have had the same experience in our own hotel. The food was average to below average, nothing to write home about.
